I've been invited by Kathleen Wright over at Kidpeople Classroom to join her Funny Kid Friday Linky Party! I've never been part of her linky before, but I sure am glad to be invited. Thanks for hosting, Kathleen!
One story comes to mind when I think about a cute little second grade student I had. It has been many years since he was in my classroom, but I still remember his comment like it was yesterday. That little boy is now grown and in his college years. He has come back for a visit a few times over the years when we've had school functions. So sweet. ;)
Okay, here it goes... We were all sitting around after lunch on the carpet getting ready for our spooky read aloud around Halloween time. I used to read the Goosebumps series to my students, which they absolutely loved. I began reading, but often stopped for students to "Buddy Buzz" about their thoughts and predictions. One by one, students began to share their predictions when asked, so I could add them to our prediction chart. I continued to read and then stopped to review our predictions on the chart.
This particular little second grade boy had made a wonderful prediction. He predicted exactly what happened in the book. He shouted out, "Man! I'm such a psycho!" All of the students turned to look at him. I asked, "What do you mean by that?" He said, "I'm a psycho. You know, like those people on TV that just know stuff. Sometimes they have a glowing ball or cards. You know those people, right?!" I said, "Do you mean psychic?" He replied, "Yep! That's what I said!"
Well, there's a bit of a difference between a psycho and a psychic, but he sure was thrilled to have had such a fantastic prediction! :)
Did you smile?

Hi Sarah! Thanks for stopping by my blog! I just popped over to yours. I love the "Nouns are just pronoun wanna-bes!" Too cute. ;)
ReplyDeleteVery funny. I'm not a teacher but I have a kindergartner who's very very funny... and she keeps mixing up words all the time. I love it when they try to apply words they have heard and think they know what they mean, but then end up mixing things up phenomenally!
ReplyDeleteI know, kids are so sweet. I'm often called "Grandma" in class, too. ;)
