Funny Kid Friday

I'm linking up with Kathleen Wright again over at Kidpeople Classroom for her Funny Kid Friday linky party!  Thanks Kathleen! :)

The first year of my teaching career, I was a Kindergarten teacher.  They always said the cutest things to me.  They have absolutely no “filter” on what they say.

One little boy asked if I could help him tie his shoe after he tried numerous times unsuccessfully.  So I bent down to help him.  As he waited, he apparently looked down at the top of my head.  He then said, “You know what I love about you, Ms. McDonald (my maiden name)?  Your hair.”  I thought he would continue on to say something about its curliness or whatever,   Instead he asked, “Do you know why?”  I responded with, “No, why?”  He then finished up his comment by saying, “Because it’s so many colors.  It’s brown and yellow and even white and gray on the top.  It’s like a rainbow!”

Now, let me reiterate the fact that this was my VERY FIRST TEACHING JOB STRAIGHT OUT OF COLLEGE!  Yes, I did happen to prematurely go a tad gray underneath a colic in the front of my hair, but yeeshk!  I made an appointment after school that day to get my hair highlighted and touched up again. LOl!

  1. OH MY GOSH that is so funny! And isn't it funny how you will never forget that?! And somehow he worded it into a compliment... that kid will go far with his tact! I'm your newest follower! :)

  3. Sadly, I can relate. My students are always the first to point out when it's time to color my hair again. I tell them it's their faults I have these grays!
